I’m always looking for ways to save or make a few bucks, and Ebates is an awesome way to get some cash back when shopping online. Since I want to help you also make a little extra money, I decide to publish this Ebates review to tell you more about how it works, and why you should be using it if you’re an online shopper.
In this post, I’ll tell you what exactly Ebates is, how to use it, and how it’s impacted my life. I would never shop online without using Ebates. It’s basically free money.
And if you think it sounds like a scam, trust me, it’s not, and I’ll tell you why.
What is Ebates?
Ebates started in 1998 in San Francisco and helps retailers get more eyes on their products. Ebates partners with those retailers to offer cash back bonuses to shoppers.
I grabbed this snippet off Ebates’ website, as it explains the company perfectly:
Ebates is where you can get Cash Back for shopping at more than 2,000 stores. Becoming a member is free! Stores pay Ebates a commission for sending you their way, and Ebates shares the commission with you as Cash Back. Get paid every three months, plus earn a cash bonus when you join and shop. Founded in 1998, Ebates has paid members more than $1 billion Cash Back. Start getting yours!
People who sign up for Ebates don’t have to fill out rebates forms or redeem miles or points, so it’s a really simple way to make money online.
How to start using Ebates to find bonuses and get coupons
To find deals using Ebates, you can either install a browser extension that pops up and alerts you when a store offers cash back, or you can simply go to the website and see which stores are offering what discounts.
Here’s what the Chrome extension looks like when I head to the Best Buy website. See what pops up in the upper right corner? The extension ensures I never miss a deal – plus it tells me about coupons and applies them!
I think it’s amazing.
Here’s what it looks like if you just head over to the Ebates website and browse categories and stores based on cashback amount:
See all those stores offering pretty amazing cashback deals? This changes regularly, so I’d suggest always going back to look for the best deals. All you have to deal is click on the box and then shop like you normally would. Then, watch your balance go up.
Then, Ebates deposits all your cash back into a Paypal account. It’s basically free money.

Is Ebates a scam?
If all this cash back sounds too good to be true, you might be wondering if Ebates is a scam. Well, I’ve used it a lot, and I’m here to tell you this: NO! It is not a scam.
Ebates is a totally legitimate company, and if you think about how it works, it makes sense.
Ebates works as a little advertisement for the companies it partners with, and if you shop through the link Ebates provides, it gets a commission. It then shares that commission with you.
It’s as easy as that. Ebates has partnered with over 2,500 merchants to help them drive sales, so its a win-win-win for everyone.
Where to shop to earn the most cash back with Ebates
There are a lot of different ways to make money through Ebates. You can be like me, and just sporadically make money when shopping online, or you can take a more targeted approach.
Here are some of the ways you can maximize your earnings through Ebates:
- You can search Ebates and figure out which stores are offering Double Cash Back, and then shop in those stores only
- You can check out which stores are offering an in-store bonus
- You can head over to the Hot Deals tab to see where you should be shopping to earn the most cash back
- Use the Travel and Vacations tab when booking a trip online to see which hotels offer the most cash back
I think signing up for Ebates is a no-brainer. It doesn’t cost you anything, and you basically get free money. Totally worth it.
My Ebates review: What I’ve earned so far
Here, you can see exactly how and on what I’ve made money using Ebates. This is just the past couple of months when I’ve shopped with Groupon and Priceline. I also use Quickbooks for my business and made a whopping $7.50 just for paying my invoice online.
Now you can see why I’d give a good Ebates review! Ebates is super easy to use and legit. So, what are you waiting for?
I love finding ways to make a few extra bucks. Even if it’s not all that much, every penny is worth something to me, especially because I don’t have a full-time job.
I hope you enjoy Ebates as much as I have. Let me know what you think!
