It’s near the Chassahowitzka River, Weeki Wachee River State Park, and the SC Bike Path. You can visit the park or ride your bike. Note that you cannot bring pets since hens, roosters, and ducks roam around the area.
2. The Lake House
If you want an off-grid accommodation with three bedrooms, a pool, a fire pit, and a beautiful lake, visit The Lake House in Kemp, Texas. You can enjoy a campfire with your family, swim in the pool or lake, and fish in the boat dock. The Lake House also provides high-speed internet, 150 feet (46 meters) of water frontage, and a large dock to drink wine and admire the beauty of the place.
The yard is also large enough to play ball games such as volleyball and tennis. If you have a boat, you can bring it and fish as much as you want. You may catch catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, and hybrid striped bass.
3. Aframe Cabin on Sturgeon River
The Aframe Cabin on Sturgeon River is in Indian River, Michigan. It has three queen beds, a kitchen, air conditioning, and a dedicated workspace. The cozy place offers free Wi-Fi so you can attend Zoom calls or stream movies.
However, since it’s more of a retreat house, there’s no TV available. The cabin has a 4-guest-only policy and is not ideal for children below ten years old because of its proximity to the river and the cabin’s stairway.
4. Underground Hobbit Hole
If you want something sustainable, unique, and peaceful for an off-grid vacation home, check out the Underground Hobbit Hole at Sustainable Ecovillage. It’s located in Del Norte County, California, perfect for adventurous souls who want to disconnect from the outside world.
While this off-grid home has no electricity, it has a lantern, a flashlight, and a candle. It also has water and a beautiful spring to keep you fresh. On top of that, there are also shared facilities like a kitchen and a bath.
5. Trails End Modern Pioneertown I Boulders
The Trail’s End Modern brings sleek architecture to a rustic area: the Pioneertown-Pipes Canyon of the High Desert. With its modern glass on 11 acres of land, this is the kind of home to seek the ultimate “off-grid” feeling.
The home has two bedrooms and bathrooms, a jacuzzi hot tub, a fire pit, and a built-in propane BBQ. It also has high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi for online use. Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, a well-known restaurant in the area, is only six minutes away.
6. Cozy Tiny House Cabin
Located in Bolton, Vermont, the Cozy Tiny House Cabin makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. It has everything you need: Wi-Fi, a dedicated workspace, a kitchen, an indoor fireplace, and a security camera.
The place is close to the Long Trail, where you can swim, ski, and golf. It’s a 30-minute drive to Burlington. This cabin offers snow tubes, snowshoes, and sleds to use for free; available upon request.
7. Unique Off-The-Grid Treehouse

8. Taos Mesa Studio Earthship
From the name itself, you can tell the Taos Mesa Studio Earthship provides a unique off-grid experience. The place is in New Mexico and offers modern amenities like a large refrigerator and a 55-inch HD TV with Netflix and Wi-Fi.
It also has a queen bed, a patio, a washing machine, and a large bathroom with a luxurious deep tub. However, you must pay an extra $50 to bring your pets.
9. Off-Grid Cabin & Wood Burning Sauna
Located in Chesterville, Canada, the Off-Grid Cabin and Wood-Burning Sauna is an oasis with a unique structure. The property has a boardwalk, a raised bed garden, and nearby trails to jog or hike.

If you want to make a fire, you can bring your own wood or buy wood on the property. The place also has indoor games and a cornhole board (a lawn game where you throw bean bags in a hole) for your enjoyment. At night, look up at a beautiful starry sky.
11. The Cargill-Earl Guesthouse at Erik’s Ranch
Another off-grid home to check out is the Cargill-Earl Guesthouse at Erick’s Ranch in Livingston, Montana. Erick’s Ranch is a non-profit upscale lodging run by young adults with autism.
The house has three bedrooms and can accommodate six people. It has an indoor fireplace, Wi-Fi, refrigerator, balcony, and more. It is only 45 minutes from Yellowstone and offers llama encounters, snowshoeing, and indoor horsemanship from November to April.
12. The Houseboat
Want to experience a unique stay by the ocean? Go for The Houseboat. The Houseboat is in Key West, Florida, and offers a romantic stay under a night sky. However, take it easy on the alcohol—it can be dangerous since you’re only a step away from the water.
The Houseboat has a comfortable two-person bed, a shower, and solar power. Since you’re surrounded by water, you can fish, snorkel, and swim whenever you want. However, you need your own equipment if you plan to go snorkeling.
13. Cedar Mountain Lodge
If you want to stay in a modern place away from the loud buzz of city life, check out the Cedar Mountain Lodge. The entire chalet is located in Evergreen, Colorado. Nestled in the mountains 8,700 feet high (2,652 meters), it offers a spectacular view of the environment.
Though it may seem far from any shops, it’s only 15 minutes from downtown Evergreen. Here, you can shop, dine, and enjoy personal entertainment. On top of that, the mountain lodge also has a stretch deck with a fire pit and a hot tub to relax in.
14. Grand Canyon Desert Cabin
The Grand Canyon Desert Cabin offers a secluded escape with spacious rooms, stunning views, and an incredible stargazing experience. It’s only 30 minutes to the Grand Canyon entrance and 40 minutes to downtown Williams. The cabin has Wi-Fi, a 50-inch HD TV, a kitchen, a dedicated workspace, and a patio.
Moreover, it can accommodate eight guests, so it’s perfect for get-togethers with friends or family. However, the place doesn’t have an AC but it has a few fans you can use.
15. The G Frame
The G Frame is an off-grid cabin in Sanbornton, New Hampshire. It’s in the center of a 24-acre estate surrounded by nature, which makes it a cozy retreat house. It covers 196 square feet (18 square meters) and comes with a loft bed, a sauna, a dining table, a kitchenette, a wood stove, a loveseat, and a compost toilet.
As a guest, you can access 20 acres of land to walk, jog, cross-country ski, and snowshoe in winter. Note that the cabin doesn’t have a refrigerator, so if you bring food or drinks, you must bring a cooler.
16. The Yurt Property
The Yurt Property in Creede, Colorado, is perfect for an off-grid vacation. The house accommodates four guests and has a fire pit, kitchen, patio, and indoor fireplace.
Unlike other off-grid properties, this accommodation allows pets. One thing to note: it isn’t powered by electricity but battery-operated lanterns. At the Yurt Property, you can enjoy the scenery of towering mountains and star-filled night skies.

Swansboro is only a short distance away, but its quietness and tranquility make it feel like a world away. The accommodation can accommodate five people and has a kitchen, a double bed, a bunk bed, a patio, and more.
