• Class B: $185 to $399 per night (averaging ~$260)

Most of us have seen Cruise America RV rentals driving down the highway. They’re marked with huge murals and Cruise America’s logo.

Cruise America is a large camper rental company that maintains a fleet of RVs that have a standard look. You won’t find a unique travel trailer or campervan when renting here.

You can choose from a large RV rental, a standard RV rental, a compact RV rental, or a truck camper. The RVs are all Class C motorhomes.

Cruise America has 128 locations in 33 states. However, when researching this article, we found that Cruise America has mixed reviews. Some people on Yelp gave the company glowing reviews, while others complained about wait times, defective RVs, and horrible customer service.

RV rental costs are based on season, availability, and location. Cruise America recommends booking earlier rather than later to get the best price on your camper rental.

You will have to pay more if you rely on Cruise America to supply your RV rental with bedding and utensils, so it’s best to bring your own. Also, you have to pay $3.50 per hour to use the generator.

You’ll also have to pay $0.35 per mile for any day you exceed 100 miles.

Here are some typical camper rental costs we saw when browsing Cruise America’s website. We input a 7-day rental in mid-July.

El Monte is an RV rental company like Cruise America, but they offer both Class A and Class C motorhome rentals.

You can book an RV rental with El Monte in 13 states, with many open on Sundays for your convenience.

Unlike Cruise America, generator use is free with El Monte. This RV rental company has been in business for 50 years and offers a variety of quality motorhomes for rent.

We did notice a mix of good and bad reviews for El Monte RV on Yelp, so do your research before you book. Remember that these reviews are for particular motorhome rental offices, which can vary in service and quality across the country.

On the site, you can rent a variety of RVs and campervans owned by private parties. The big perk of GoCamp is that the rental includes everything you need to go on a great road trip – kitchenware, camping chairs and tables, bed sheets, cookware, and more. You won’t forget to pack anything.

Reviews on Yelp give it 4.5 out of 5 stars on average. Bear in mind there are only 20 reviews live on Yelp at the time of writing.

The price of rentals varies depending on rental dates, a one-way or round-trip rental, and the type of RV you choose. Most rentals are priced between $130 and $325 per night. Remember that you’ll need to add compulsory insurance and optional roadside assistance to the price.

7) Best for One-Way RV Rentals: Indie Campers

Indie Campers offers several different types of RV rentals. You can rent from an RV owner (peer-to-peer), a professional rental service, or directly from Indie Campers, as they maintain their fleet of fully-stocked camper vans. 

They also allow you to book one-way trips, eliminating an unnecessary return journey if you are planning a point-to-point camping trip. This is especially useful for anyone flying into and out of different destinations, such as those intent on renting an RV in San Francisco to drive the iconic US Highway 1 from Northern to Southern California. 

One of the additional benefits of renting an RV with Indie Campers is their flexible cancellation policy. They don’t require payment in full until 30 days before the first day of your rental, meaning you can book in advance and make needed changes up to 30 days before your RV trip. Prices are based on a nightly rate, and I’ve found RV rental prices range from $60 (usually for vehicles with rooftop tents) up to $210 (for larger motorhomes). Again, prices will fluctuate if you choose a vehicle with a rooftop tent versus a Class B or Class C RV (or another RV type).

8) Most Well-Equipped RV Rentals: Roadsurfer

Using Roadsurfer for RV rentals gives you options in the US and internationally, with additional rental options in Canada and Europe. They specialize in renting Class B and C RVs with a minimum three-night rental period. 

They stand out from the competition with the extra equipment they provide. Sure, some peer-to-peer RV rentals will come with extra camping equipment, but Roadsurfer standardizes things further than most other rental platforms. 

Along with the camper, you’ll get:

Plus, they all include a one-time $149 service fee, so be aware of that extra charge before booking. On average, a weekly RV rental with Roadsurfer will cost between $1,000 and $1,500. 

What Type of RV Rental Should You Get?

With all the RV rental companies on the market, you’ve got plenty of choices.

Here are the four main classes of camper rentals near you to choose from. Click any of the links below to check out the various types of RVs.

• Class A RV. A Class A RV is the biggest motorhome you can get, which is good for a larger group or a family. Class A RV rentals have lounge and dining areas, a kitchen, a bathroom with shower, and a separate bedroom. Many have slide-outs that increase the inside space when you’re RV camping. These will likely be the most expensive motorhome rentals you can get, but they’ll also generally have the largest water tanks for extended trips.
