The Aliner Ascape tends to be a polarizing camper under 2,000 pounds. The teardrop shape allows for optimal aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, something touted by fans. While the shape is a great feature for some, the aesthetics make it a miss for others.

If you appreciate the fuel savings and efficiency of the teardrop shape, the Aliner Ascape is one of the best travel trailers under 2,000 pounds available.

There are two versions of the Ascape: the Grand Ascape ST and the Grand Ascape Plus. While that might feel limiting for people looking to customize their space, the tried and tested layout is ideal for most campers.

The Ascape ST has a wet bath and an outdoor shower, while the Ascape Plus offers a cassette toilet and an outdoor shower. Both offer a 50-watt front-mounted solar panel, a 6-foot Thule awning, a 3-cubic-foot refrigerator, and a 9,200-BTU roof-mounted air conditioner.

  • Dry Weight: 1,500 pounds
  • Length: 13’
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 700-800 pounds
  • Fresh Water Capacity: 12 gallons
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 3

All Scamp campers are lightweight and easily towed. Their aerodynamic, vintage exteriors have shot them up the ranks of popularity.

The 13’ camper, the smallest of their fleet, fits their most-loved features into a tiny frame, making it one of the best ultra-lightweight travel trailers under 2,000 pounds.

The two main layouts of the standard 13’ Scamp are mostly the same, with a kitchenette, a closet, and a large convertible dinette/sleeping area. The front parts of these layouts differ with the buyer’s choice between a wet bath or a couch that converts into single bunk beds.

The 13’ Scamp Deluxe is available in three floorplans. Layout B includes a front wet bath with a toilet and a shower. Layouts A and C are very similar, substituting a convertible dinette with storage underneath in place of the wet bath.

Overall, the Scamp is a great 2,000-pound camper for travelers wanting a classic camper at a slightly smaller scale.

Roulette offers ultra-lightweight travel trailers in an astounding range of weights and sizes. Their smallest trailer weighs just 590 pounds. However, we picked the E-Lounge as our feature because of its spacious interior and the inclusion of a wet bath.

With its low dry weight and a 219-pound tongue weight, virtually any car with a tow hitch can pull it. The E-Lounge floorplan offers a 54” x 74” sofa bed at the front and a 34” x 74” convertible dinette on the camp side. The kitchenette across from the dinette offers a comfortable, climate-controlled cooking space no matter the weather outside.

The stove and furnace operate on electricity only, meaning you’ll need a portable generator or a campground shore power connection to enjoy them. Optional upgrades for the E-Lounge include a microwave, an air conditioner, an exterior shower, and a front window with a curtain. It comes with two 100-watt solar panels, a 200-amp battery, and a 2,000-watt inverter for improved battery recharging.

The Armadillo trailers come in four floorplans, all offering an incredible amount of living space for a 2000-pound camper. Their newest layout features a triple bunk, offering enough space for a growing family to comfortably sleep.

The style of the Armadillo is also hard to miss. The sleek box steel framing, wraparound LED lights, and retro-yet-futuristic round windows make this a camper that won’t fade into the background.

Their smallest models, the 14FD, 14FL, and 14BH, all list dry weights under 2,000 pounds. But even for their compact size and lightweight design, they include a spacious kitchenette, convertible dining area, wet bath, skylight, storage, and more.

  • Dry Weight: 1,500 pounds
  • Length: 14’
  • Fresh Water Capacity: N/A
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 2

The Classic Teardrop by Timberleaf is a small cabin travel trailer perfect for weekend adventures under the stars. With the largest skylight of any teardrop camper we’ve seen, the interior cabin feels open and spacious even when safely closed off from the outdoors.

When you tour the Timberleaf Classic Teardrop camper, it’s impossible not to notice the retro-inspired styling details in the exterior rear galley, such as aluminum edging and leather handles, that bring rustic charm to your cook space.

Because it doesn’t include a bath or shower option, it’s better suited for campground stays where facilities are available. However, you could pick up a portable cassette toilet and upgrade to an outdoor shower like the RoadShower for improved off-grid camping with the Timberleaf.

With an aerodynamic, teardrop shape, this 2,000-pound camper can go anywhere you want to take it without draining your fuel efficiency.

Your article “11ultra lightweight travel trailers under 2,000 pounds” was very interesting. The 2000 lbs, are you using Dry Weight or GVWR? I have a Grand Caravan and my max GVWR is 3600 lbs.

  7. Why did you not mention the Trailmarker trailer made in NY state ? It’s under 2000 lbs and has a queen size bed and a 6 foot interior height, with LITERALLY tons of storage. Not to mention that they are built like tanks, in a good way, they will last your lifetime. You can’t go wrong.
